Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor that grows on the cervix which is located between the uterus and the sexual canal (vagina). Cervical cancer is the most common cancer suffered by women and is the highest cause of death from cancer in women in the world. Cervical cancer prevention programs in Indonesia include primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. Early detection of cervical cancer using the Visual Inspection method with Acetic Acid (IVA) and Pap Smear is part of secondary prevention. However, many cases of cervical cancer deaths in Indonesia occur due to coming to the hospital at an advanced stage. This shows that there is a delay in early detection of cervical cancer. The aim of this study was to determine the description of cervical cancer screening.

Methode: This type of research uses descriptive. The type of data is primary data regarding cervical cancer screening behavior obtained through questionnaires. The population in this study were all women of childbearing age in Kaliwungu Village, Kaliwungu District, Kudus Regency using incidental sampling technique. Data analysis uses percentages and is presented in the form of a frequency distribution table.

Result: The research results showed that the majority of mothers did not undergo cervical cancer screening, 27 people (90%). And a small percentage of mothers underwent cervical cancer screening, 3 people (10%).

Suggestion: It is hoped that the public will be willing to undergo cervical cancer screening as an effort to secondary prevent cervical cancer.
